DESCRIPTION:
EPW - Unsigned, in style of Bovet of Fleurier, Chinese market lever with enamel portrait of Western woman on green guilloche enamel background, split pearl borders, 56mm, silver or silver-plated and gilt OF original case with spring loaded rear, glazed observation cuvette bored with keyholes, fancy white enamel dial with two colors of gold foil highlights, KWKS, lever escapement with jewel set counterpoise, 11-15J, elaborately engraved gilt mvt, s#82597 within case. Watch is accompanied by an attractive and ornate silver or silver-plated slide chain with two attached tassels and a key.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking sluggishly on a full wind and stopping occasionally, overhaul needed, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, mild oxide to regulator; nearly flawless dial with very small dark spot at edge outside 1; excellent-plus hands with few small bits of oxide; case rear needing assistance opening as one of its lift springs is broken or not functioning, case shows little wear, external gilding fully lost, no dents or dings, crude green painted touch-up to area of rear enamel loss at lower edge, rear enameling otherwise intact with scattered surface scratches and fine scratches, split pearls fully present; bow pivots freely, push shows light to medium wear; good glass crystals, front a bull's-eye style. Chain and attached elements in excellent cosmetic condition, key is somewhat small for present watch with only a tenuous fit to winding arbor.
